A2 versija un uzdevumi
Last Saturday was supposed to be relaxing, but it was exhausting. I planned a quiet day at home. My sister called and asked me to help her move house. At first I was annoyed and very tired after a long working week. Moving furniture was boring. The stairs were frightening — her new flat is on the fifth floor and there is no lift. In the evening something surprising happened. Her new neighbours invited us to dinner. They were interesting: he has worked in Japan and she has travelled across South America. I was amazed by their stories. I felt excited about planning a trip.

B2 versija un uzdevumi
Last Saturday was meant to be relaxing, but it turned out to be unexpectedly exhausting. I had planned a quiet day at home, yet my sister rang and asked me to help her move house. At first I was annoyed and very tired after a long working week. Moving furniture was boring and the narrow stairwell was frightening — her new flat is on the fifth floor and there is no lift, which sometimes felt overwhelming given the heavy boxes. However, the evening brought something surprising. Her new neighbours invited us to dinner. They were interesting people: he has worked in Japan and she has travelled across South America. Their stories were fascinating and I was genuinely amazed by the places they described. By the end of the evening I wasn’t tired any more; instead I was excited and a little overwhelmed with ideas for my own travels. It was a confusing day — physically demanding in the morning and stimulating by night — but it wasn’t disappointing. The mix of exhausting work and fascinating conversation left me thinking about future trips.
1. Rewrite the sentences so the feeling is expressed as the cause (example: “I was annoyed.” → “It was annoying.”): a) I was annoyed. b) I was tired after a long working week. c) I was amazed by their stories. d) I was excited about planning my own trip.
2. Discussion question: How can meeting people with different cultural experiences be both overwhelming and inspiring? Give examples and suggest how you might respond when you feel overwhelmed.
Answers: a) It was annoying. b) The long working week was tiring. c) Their stories were fascinating. d) Planning my own trip was exciting. 2. No single correct answer.
Common speaking task (all levels): Pair work: Tell your partner about a day when your mood changed. Use at least three -ed/-ing adjectives from the lesson (for example: tired, surprising, excited). Ask your partner two follow-up questions.
Kas uzlabojās
- Apgūstamie vārdi saglabāti: B2 versijā visi 12 -ed/-ing vārdi un pievienoti overwhelming, overwhelmed, fascinating; A2 versijā 10 no 12.
- B2 leksika atbilst B2 līmenim; britu angļu valoda (flat, lift, working week, film).
- A2 ~100 vārdi, saglabāts has worked / has travelled.
- Vārdnīca izlabota (annoyed — aizkaitināts, lift — lifts).
- Uzdevumi katram līmenim, kopīgs runāšanas uzdevums un atbilžu atslēgas; instrukcijas angļu valodā.
Kas joprojām jāņem vērā
- B1 iztrūkstošo vārdu uzdevumā vārdi doti jau gatavā formā, tāpēc izglītojamie paši -ed/-ing formu neveido; e) teikumā der arī exhausting, ne tikai boring.
- A2 versijā izlaisti confusing un disappointing; B2 versijā nav prasītā fascinated.
- B2 c) atbilde fascinating maina vārdu; tiešāka pārveide būtu Their stories were amazing.
- Rīks pats brīdina: „Review this closely for accuracy… AI may have limitations.”
Refleksija
Ieguvumi
|---|---|---|
| A2: visi 12 -ed/-ing vārdi | 10 no 12 | 12 no 12 |
| B2: + overwhelmed/overwhelming, fascinated/fascinating | nav fascinated | visi četri |
| A2 ≤ 100 vārdi; B2 180–200 | atbilst | 100 / 190 |
| Britu angļu valoda | atbilst (pēc labojuma) | atbilst |
| B1 uzdevumā izglītojamais pats veido formu | nē, formas dotas | jā, dots vārda pamats |
| Vārdnīcas tulkojumi | pareizi pēc labojuma | pareizi |
| Nepieciešamās kārtas | 3 | 1 |

Claude: B2 versija un uzdevumi
Last Saturday was supposed to be relaxing, but it turned out to be completely exhausting. I had planned a lazy day at home when my sister phoned and asked me to help her move house. At first I was annoyed, partly because I was so tired after a long working week. Carrying boxes and furniture was boring, repetitive work, and the stairs were genuinely frightening: her new flat is on the fifth floor and the building has no lift. By mid-afternoon the whole job felt overwhelming, and I was overwhelmed by the number of boxes still waiting downstairs. However, the evening brought a surprising change. Her new neighbours invited us to dinner, and they turned out to be very interesting people. He has worked in Japan for several years and she has travelled across South America on her own. Their stories were fascinating, and I was fascinated by how easily they had adapted to different cultures. I was amazed by their courage, and by the end of the evening I was excited about planning a trip of my own. It had been a confusing day, but it certainly wasn’t disappointing.
Rewrite: from the feeling to the cause: a) I was annoyed when my sister phoned. b) I was overwhelmed by the number of boxes. c) I was fascinated by their stories. d) I was excited about planning a trip.
Discussion: Have you ever met someone whose experiences were so fascinating that they changed your plans? What happened?
Answers: a) My sister’s phone call was annoying. b) The number of boxes was overwhelming. c) Their stories were fascinating. d) Planning a trip was exciting.
Common speaking task: Work in mixed-level groups of three (A2, B1, B2). Each person retells the story from their text in two or three sentences. Then talk about a day that started badly but ended well. Use at least four -ed/-ing adjectives and ask each other one follow-up question.
